CLASSES AT INNOVATIVE BEADS EXPO NYC

I will be teaching two classes at the upcoming Innovative Beads & Fiber Expo here in New York City from May 21-23, 2010:

TURKISH FLAT BEAD CROCHET

This class is for anyone interested in bead crochet. Based on a Turkish lace (oya) stitch that I learned from a shopkeeper while visiting the Roman ruins at Ephesus, Turkey, this bracelet is a fun introduction to bead crochet but also offers experienced bead crocheters a new stitch and a chance to play with fibers and beads. Students will also learn how to make a button and loop closure and how to embellish the loop with more beads. Basic crochet skills are required.

When: 2:30-5:30pm Friday, May 21, 2010
Class Fee: $60, pre-register and save $10
Kit Fee: $20 (more colors available than shown)
Students need to bring scissors, task lamp (optional)

FIFTIES FLOWERS EMBROIDERED NEEDLE BOOK
Tired of hunting all over for those needles you had just a few minutes ago? Make a colorful, felt needle book to hold needles, pins, and other sewing supplies. Embroider felt flowers and leaves to a felt cover, embellish it with a botton and cheerful bee, then sew together 4 "pages" and the cover to make a handy place to store necessary items. Students will learn the running stitch, blanket stitch, whip stitch, French knot, how to sew on a button, and how to sew on a snap. Basic sewing skills are helpful.
When: 2:30-5:30pm Sunday, May 22, 2010
Class Fee: $60, pre-register and save $10
Kit Fee: $20
Students need to bring scissors, task lamp (optional)
